about

Iphigenia
by Euripides
The University of Utah, 35th annual Greek Festival 2005
Music composed by Joe Payne ©2005.

An older generation of war hungry men sacrifice the innocence of their children. Sound familiar? The director, Larry West, wanted the play to feel immediate and relevant. His concept sprung from the idea that the chorus would be a modern dress news reporter surrounded by this classical Greek world. The music is a mix of modern news themes and a pseudo classical Greek / modern feel.
